Microcurrent Therapy

 MICROCURRENT-Avazzia/ FSM/Mend

Microcurrent therapy can help injured tissues heal faster and provide relief from pain caused by injury or chronic conditions.

Avazzia Microcurrent

Avazzia Microcurrent Biofeedback treatments are available. Avazzia RSI device is an FDA approved, single channel microcurrent device to treat pain- chronic and acute. It may also help to decrease inflammation, accelerate healing, detoxify, reduce swelling, reduce sinus pressure, improve organ functions, reduce neuropathy, reduce appearance of scars, reduce adhesions, and more.

No drugs.  No surgery.  Just relief.

How it works

The Avazzia technology works by using microcurrent targeting the C-fibers which stimulate the production of neuropeptides and other regulatory peptides, which the body uses to heal itself. Because Avazzia features an interactive response, the microcurrent signal is constantly being adjusted to changes in tissue characteristics. Thus the body doesn’t “habituate” or “accommodate” the microcurrent signal. The device measures tissue response and adjusts the microcurrent signal.  The professional devices we use are  FDA -cleared for the symptomatic relief and management of chronic, intractable pain, and adjunctive treatment in the management of post-surgical and post-traumatic pain.  Our therapists participate in extensive training and protocol research to constantly improve how we use this technology with specific frequencies and specific applications.

In surveys, patients report that Avazzia treatments lessen pain, improve sleep and dramatically increase ability to return to daily activities.

FSM- Frequency Specific Microcurrent

Mend technology is a programmable Frequency Specific Microcurrent device that uses gentle DC current over 2 channels to deliver frequency pairs, with one frequency for the condition and the other for a designated tissue. This allows for much more specialized treatments of a variety conditions.   Frequency Specific Microcurrent is recommended for any pain or inflammation related condition, such as: Arthritis, Neuropathy, Fibromyalgia, Scar tissue, nerve pain, disc pain, and even PTSD.

Microcurrent vs TENS

Microcurrent therapy has already been widely used in the cosmetic industry, especially in facial equipment as in anti-wrinkle/anti-aging devices, as well as in Acupuncture, sports injury recovery, and the treatment of pain. Microcurrent devices are approved in the category of TENS devices by the FDA. Traditional TENS devices deliver milliamp current, which blocks pain messages that are trying to get up the spine to the brain. Microcurrent, on the other hand, delivers a very low level, subsensory micro-amperage DC current, which is a 1000 times less than traditional TENS devices. It has been shown in published studies to increase production of ATP by up to 500% in tissues. Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) is the biochemical way to store and use energy in cells. We are made of cells. Without ATP energy, cells would not survive.

In the book written by Orthopedic surgeon and author of The Body Electric, Dr Robert Becker, MD, he noted that because the body’s nervous system runs on DC current, the most effective healing occurs with DC stimulation. It is noted that the human nervous system appears to not respond well to strong, disruptive stimuli. According to Dr. Becker, therapy approaches such as TENS appear to be “screaming” at the nerves, rather than “whispering” to them as they would through microcurrent stimulation.

This can also be explained by the Arndt/Schulz law of physics, where German psychiatrist Rudolf Arndt (1835-1900) and German pharmacologist Hugo Schulz (1853-1932) stated that weak stimuli increase physiologic activity, while strong stimuli inhibit activity. When working with pain, it suggests that less electricity could be more effective than more of it. Arndt-Schulz law may also explain why micro-amperage currents may be more effective than milli-amperage currents for pain relief.

How Frequency Specific Microcurrent works

Frequency Specific Microcurrent Therapy (FSM) helps injured tissue heal faster and provides relief from pain caused by injury or chronic conditions. FSM is the application of specific micro-electrical frequencies to the injured part of the body.

Each type of tissue in your body has its own signature electrical frequency, which may be disrupted by injury or disease. FSM Therapy simply restores normal frequencies within the cells to specific tissues. This results in remarkable improvements in pain, inflammation and function.

FSM in my practice is used as a stand alone, or in conjunction with specific manual therapies. I have found it to be an amazing addition to my practice. It has helped to provide relief to for my clients pain.

One the most consistent and beneficial single element of FSM that i have experienced and seen, is its ability to reduce inflammation. The inflammatory response can be a consistent problem with many injuries and pathologies. Being able to reduce that responses negative effects (ie pain, presurgical, post surgical, acute injuries) makes it an amazing tool to help you with your health issues.

What it does to injured tissue?

When an injury or disease occurs, the injured cells resist this microcurrent so that it takes the path of least resistance around the area of injury rather than through it.

This prevents the supply of blood, oxygen and vital nutrients to the injured cells, causing pain and retarding the healing process

Microcurrent therapy works on the affected pain area, reaching injured cells, potentially restoring and regenerating them to alleviate chronic pain.

Microcurrent therapy has the ability to closely mimic the human body’s natural current. It acts at the cellular level and helps increase ATP production.

ATP is the energy that fuels all biochemical functions in the body. It also stimulates protein synthesis, which is necessary for tissue repair. Blood flow is enhanced and inflammation reduced, thereby potentially accelerating the healing process

Microcurrent Therapy can help injured tissue heal faster and provides relief from pain caused by injury or chronic conditions.

Collectively, microcurrent devices assist in:

·     Rehydrating cells and tissue

·     Reducing pain

·     Speeding up wound healing

·     Improving blood circulation

·     Promoting lymphatic circulation/drainage

·     Increasing waste disposal

·     Improving nutrition absorption

·     Increasing ATP (energy in the cell) by up to 500%

·     Promotes elastin and collagen production

These devices may be helpful in treating a variety of conditions:

·     Acute and chronic pain reduction

·     Post-operative pain, swelling, and bruising

·     Neuropathy and Diabetic Neuropathy

·     Delayed onset muscle soreness (exercise soreness)

·     Acute and Chronic injuries to muscles, bones, joints

·     Concussion to the head and/or the body

·     Scars and Adhesions

·     Arthritis

·     Nerve Pain

·     Inflammation (local or systemic)

·     Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

·     Fibromyalgia

·     Bursitis

·     Acute or Chronic muscle tension/spasms
